Safety

Brainerd Helicopter Service provides the highest level of safety training for pilots and crew.

On February 2, 2022, the FAA acknowledged BHSI as having a fully functional Safety Management System recognized by the FAA in accordance with the requirement set forth in the SMS Voluntary Program.  Participation in the program signifies that BHSI has implemented an SMS aligned with international standards.  We are extremely proud of our working Safety Management System which is deeply rooted in our everyday operations and is supported from the top down.

An example of this was our multimedia training session “Flying in the Wire and Obstruction Environment Course.” This essential seminar was endorsed by the Helicopter Association International and was specifically designed for professional pilots and crews whose missions require them to operate in wire infested environments. Brainerd Helicopters sponsored the course in 2018 and 2022.  All employees, along with patrollers from partnering utilities, attend the course.
